Test alpha of new project - Chimp & See

  • DZM by DZM admin

Hey, Zooites! We need your expertise!

I’m happy to invite you, our Talk users, to help us out with the alpha test for our newest Zooniverse project: Chimp & See! This project will focus on identifying chimpanzees and other animals from 15-second videos taken in African forests.

We need as many of you as possible to help by testing the current interface and offering us some suggestions. The more feedback that we get, the better the final project will be!

Please note that the site is still in an unfinished state (some links are non-functional, for instance), and that classifications are not yet being recorded—so don’t spend too much time on this! (5-10 classifications should be enough to get a general feel for things.)

We are most interested in how well the process of classifying flows, and what additional tweaks/improvements might be made to make users feel comfortable with the project.

If you’re up for it, get started here: Chimp & See (Alpha).

When you’re done, please fill out this quick survey to let us know about your experience. (You can chat in this thread, too, but please do the survey as well so that we can have all participating Zooites’ responses in one place!)

    Thanks for all your help!

Oh, that's really cool!! Actually I'm not sure about the correct meaning of some marks so my guessing was real guessing:] Hope it will be helpful anyway..

For example the 'grooming' - do you use it for the behavior when one primate takes care about fur of another primate only or do you use that word for scratching itself by its leg as well? If not, what behavior includes the scratching by leg?

What is the 'Small-bodied primate' used for? Does it includes Baboons? I don't think they're 'small-bodied' but don't see any proper category there.... 😦 and the Guide doesn't display properly so I can't read anything about the categories.

    Z.
