It looks like tentacles from a #Siphonophore overlapped by a nice #Larvacean in a different plan. No artefact visible there..

@mkmcguir Do you mean half of the tentacled animal we cannot see? Like from a neighbouring frame? We can't find it easily in the CAL data set 😦

Why do you think the linked one is the neighbouring frame? There doesn't seem to be anything in common with this one 😦

There are hundreds of thousands of images of the CAL data.. it can be even missing, since some images have been sorted out by an algorithm

Well, the depth is definitely not any close: 97 vs 89, which makes 8 meters difference. Can't tell whether they were taken on the same day from the Talk display

😃 Don't worry. It is really beyond our abilities to find the neighbouring frame. It probably is a Sipho Corncob. We can only guess.

In the cal dataset, the frames are indeed not contiguous. Some are in the Med dataset (but not all)

What's interesting in this one though i that it looks like an appendicularian is caught on the sipho's tentacle.

Did you get the same image for the second time? It shouldn't be happening 😦 Please, if it happens again, make sure you haven't been logged out
