Little crescent shaped guys

    I'm seeing a lot of these but can't match them to any of the descriptions. They always have that crescent shaped part. Plankton or not? Hope the link works...

    these are #rocket-ship #thimble they are plankton. Siphonophore

    To add to Cedric's comment-- these are what we're calling rocketship thimble but actually are an early life stage of the adults that we provided pictures of in the field guide. These early life stages are called "eudoxids" and we think that they occur in different parts of the water column compared to the adults -- but no one has ever studied them yet!
