Could these be siphonophores?

I have seen a lot of these now; and although they look like they are just trails of mucus, I am wondering if they could be a different type of siphonophore that we don't have a category for?

Maybe they're just a weird angle on rocket ship siphos. Look at this image when compared with the above:

My guess is that these are detached tentacles of some kind (of medusa, siphos, etc.). They are still stingy and sticky so they accumulate cruft but they are not connected to a living animal anymore which would "eat" the stuff glued on them.
