Two types of larvacean?

I have noticed that in the images from less than 20m depth, the larvaceans have round heads, thin opaque tails and look more opaque overall. On greater depths, especially around 100m, the larvaceans have hourglass shaped heads, and a broader, transparent tail with a string running through it. They are more transparent and often much larger.
Are these two different species, or are the rounder ones young?

Great observation! Yes there are different species of Larvaceans, ... three different families, in fact. We will be posting a blog about this in the upcoming week or so.
