Beroida

    About any small white squiggle looks like a beroida to me. Is there some kind of minimum size for them?

    They're usually at least 5-10 times the size of a copepod. Typically very opaque. We usually distinguish them by their cilia hairs on one end.

    #Beroida are usually large - they consume copepods and even lobate ctenophores! Here is a pretty great video of a beroida swallowing another ctenophore http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xkNPp6mzzI

    What, that is what beroida look like? I have been thinking of them as "sea potatoes," because they show up as opaque white blobs in these photos, but in the video they look so delicate and iridescent.
