How should we measure the curved ones as the measuring tool assumes straight lines? I'm assuming we measure tails. Also, does anyone know which way the lobate ones swim?

    Hi Jules,

go from the tip of the head to the tip of the tail and for the width try to estimate the widest part of the body. The arrow side should be on the head. this larvacean is swimming up

Thanks for the quick reply! What about the lobate ones? There's a training image (which won't post to Talk so I can't illustrate) which contains a big lobate plankton. I'm not sure which way is forward!

Lobate ctenophores swim lobes first. They open their lobes, and when prey enters, they close them and move the prey into their mouth.
