Pre-processing of images

Have the images been pre-processed to select for images with likely looking shapes or a certain density of white or is plankton very abundant and likely to appear in most of the images?

    Hi janerichardson!

Yes the original frames were chopped into several images. They also negative images from the original we thought it looked better. We indeed show only images which have potential object in it. But sometimes the filters fails and you may get an images with nothing but noise. I hope this answer your question!
Thank you so much for you hard work we really appreciate it:)

    Cheers

How many people need to view each image? How do you analyse the results, Kappa scores or something more sophisticated?

in short if we have 5 persons in row not finding anything of interest we retire the image as a null. Otherwise we use up to 25 viewers to reach a consensus. We are in the process of finding new methods with a weight according to users past performance too. We are waiting to get more data analyzed for this

    cheers
