    Hi all,
I am looking for a course this summer for my student to learn zooplankton identification, sampling, handling, processing, etc.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    thanks

    Hi @drorangel,

Unfortunately, we don't know of any summer courses for zooplankton identification and sample processing. We asked around, and most people said that they learned through curricula at their university during graduate school, or while doing plankton identification work in the lab. Are there ongoing fieldwork or sample processing that your student can participate in, or other labs you can send a student to learn from? Unfortunately, that's the best we have got. These crucial skills are so rarely taught in formal settings!

If we hear of any courses, we will certainly send them your way.

    cheers,
    Jessica

There is one in Villefranche-sur-Mer (France): http://oov.obs-vlfr.fr/fr/l_enseignement/stages_interuniversitaires_d_ete.html

    And the description: http://oov.obs-vlfr.fr/contributor/resources/download/oov/doc_enseignements/DiMaPlan2017_eng.pdf

Subscriptions have been closed for a while for this year's edition unfortunately. It is taught every year though. I know that it is open to students outside of the university but I don't know what the price would be. Also I am not sure it as ever be taught in English 😉

Anyhow, you can ask Laure Mousseau, who is in charge of the course (email on the description sheet above).
